How to watch New England Patriots versus New York...

The New England Patriots return home to face the New York Giants in Week 6 of the season on TNF. Here’s all the information you need to watch the game.

In a matchup between two of the NFL’s premier franchises, the New England Patriots will host the New York Giants at Gillette Stadium this evening on Thursday Night Football. It’s the second of five scheduled primetime games for the Pats this season, and the first since New England opened on Sunday Night Football in Week 1 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After defeating the Washington Redskins on the road 33-7, the Patriots return home as one of only two undefeated teams left in the NFL (the other being ex-Pat Jimmy Garoppolo’s San Francisco 49ers).

New England’s defense has been lights-out all season, but they finally received a dominant performance from their offense as well in Week 5. Sony Michel and the run game got going after remaining relatively stagnant all year, with Michel tallying 91 yards and the Pats as a team dropping 130 yards on the ‘Skins. Tom Brady also had a nice bounceback game after a poor showing against Buffalo – he threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns versus Washington.

The Patriots returned to Foxborough and had a short week of preparation before “welcoming” the New York Giants into Gillette. Tonight marks New England’s only appearance on Thursday Night Football this season.

The Giants are coming off an embarrassing 28-10 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Daniel Jones – who New York surprisingly drafted No. 6 overall last April – had previously been on a two-game winning streak since replacing Eli Manning at quarterback in Week 3. While the former Duke QB wasn’t necessarily bad against the Vikes, he also didn’t do nearly enough to help his team come through with the win.

Life probably won’t get any easier for Jones and the Giants offense this week, either. Just four days after facing the league’s fifth-ranked scoring defense in the Vikings, the G-Men now must figure out how to put up points on the Patriots D, the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL.

Head coach Bill Belichick has his players on that side of the ball exceeding everyone’s wildest expectations through five weeks of the regular season. The Patriots are well ahead of their nearest rivals in practically every major defensive category, and have displayed no signs of letting their foot off the gas or showing mercy to their opponents thus far.

The Giants also figure to be down several important contributors on their offense tonight.

Star do-it-all running back Saquon Barkley – a team captain and the unquestioned best player for Big Blue – is unlikely to play this evening because of a high ankle sprain. His backup, Wayne Gallman, is also questionable to play because of a concussion. If neither player can go, the Giants rush attack will flow through rookie Rutgers draft pick Jonathan Hilliman.

Starting wide receiver Sterling Shepard has also been ruled “out” ahead of this game with concussion symptoms. His absence – combined with the potential absences of the players previously listed, as well as tight end Evan Engram (MCL sprain) – could leave the Giants precariously thin at all the skill positions as they prepare to challenge the stingy Pats defense.

Next: Tuesday Talking Points – Pats vs G-Men

Entering tonight, only the Cincinnati Bengals have allowed more total yards on defense this season than the New York Giants. It’s probably safe to assume that Brady, Michel, and the potent New England Patriots offense could have a strong showing against yet another weak NFC East defensive unit.
